River Shack Early 1900's


Then....


This is a photo taken in the early 1900's most likely on the sands adjacent to the Spurwink.  It also could be a side shot of the shack with the right front side facing the ocean, but who really knows until the next photo shows up.

And it just did!  Congrats to Dave MacDonald for identifying the same shack from an earlier posting on this history page.  In earlier times, there was water pipe crossing the river bringing fresh water to the beach from nearby Cape Elizabeth.  When we first posted the photo below, we thought that the small shack was on the Cape shoreline and not the Higgins shoreline. We stand corrected!
