January 2024 Storms    Page 1

The beach experienced two significant storm tide events in January.  The first storm brought extremely high winds and tides along with the rain.  The second storm brought the highest recorded tide in history and many owners are paying a price for that.  Most of those old enough to remember hinted that even the first storm was almost as bad as the blizzards of '78 and '79.  Those earlier storms predated cell phone cameras however, so we don't have as much for comparison sakes.  As a reminder, we will start out here with a few of those photos!

This week's storms were perhaps not as powerful as they were 45 years ago, but they certainly gave us a wake up call!

On the first storm, Police blocked off Ocean Avenue to all but local residents

This porch used to be attached to the front of the little green house, but no more

There's a crack in the street perhaps!
